DIRSIG Basic Training Remote Session: May 2023

Dates May 9th - May 12th, 2023

Location This course will be offered using an online/remote delivery method. Lectures will be delivered via secured Zoom and attendees will be expected to have full audio/video and screen sharing capabilities (via Zoom). This is so we can ensure engagement (our biggest concern with not having everyone physically in the same room) and assist with questions/problems on the lab exercises if/when attendees encounter them. To simplify software usage and our ability to provide remote assistance on the lab tutorials, RIT will be providing remotely accessed virtual machines with DIRSIG and any supporting software pre-installed for each attendee. Therefore, the attendee computers will need to have a remote desktop client installed (for example, Microsoft's free "Remote Desktop" application, available for Windows or Mac via the respective app stores). We will also rely heavily on Slack for sending files, announcements, asking for help, and other general communications.

Notes The modified remote session schedule will stretch the 3 day course into 4 days. In general, each morning will be devoted to lectures and questions, and the afternoons left open for lab tutorials and/or job related responsibilities.

NOTE: We will be operating in the Eastern Time Zone (GMT-4).
